Flamboyant Roscoe Turner assisting actress Bebe Daniels aboard Nevada Air Lines Lockheed Vega for the inaugural Glendale-Reno service, May 1929. Turner, holder of numerous intercity speed records, was the line's chief pilot and general manager.

Two interesting instrument panel pictures. Photo has been damaged over time, but some interesting details could be spotted:
1. Special compass arrangement (view from the top)
2. General Electric Engine Temperature Selector Switch - with numbers from 1 to 9 (on the left)
3. Landing Lights switch + Nav/Dome/Dash switches
4. And finally - this big wodden lever on the right - seems common to all Vega's - looks like elevator trim. There is a plate near with Nose up/Nose down marks and instructions about wobble pump in the middle...

Story of Vega in Australia

In 1931, Vega acquired by Lieut.-Comdr. Glen Kidston, in UK was registered as G-ABGK. In 1934 she took part in the Centenary Air Race from London to Melbourne. Unfortunately, in Aleppo, Syria she suffered the undercarriage failure on landing and did not finish this race. Airplane was then loaded on the ship and transported to Australia where it was rebuilt.
