Howdy! Hang in there gang!

Post by GrizzlyAir » 29 Dec 2018, 21:41

Hope everyone is doing well. We haven't heard from Otmar in a while and I know we are all concerned. I think the best way we can support him and his product right now is to keep flying it and enjoying what we have until he returns. Hopefully everyone is having a good holiday season and we will have good news soon we all hope.

When he come back he will have a lot of work to clean this Forum from posts done by bots also ;).

Lets hope so. Whoever is behind the bots has accomplished nothing other than make a mess of the forum. :?

Happy New Year all! Let's hope that Otmar is safe and well, and able to make a reappearance in 2019. Oh, and incidentally...

...It's actually not too difficult to clear out a bunch of bots and all their posts using the pHpBB 'prune users' functions. Clearing out all the rubbish would just be a 10 minute job. ;)

Cheers,
Nick

Unfortunately, phpbb has a timeout that is too low to prune users with over 2000 posts. It took me about a month to clear page after page of junk. Not complaining, since I brought this on to myself, just pointing out that there's some limitations to the forum software when it comes to such a flooding.

I didn't realise there was a limit to the prune users feature based on post count. In that case, yes, it must have been tiresome manually deleting all that spam.

Anyway, good to see that you're back Otmar. I think a few of us were genuinely getting a bit worried by the lack of communication, but I hope that the project continues to go from strength to strength.

All the best,
Nick
